If once wasn’t enough Nikon is recalling another batch of the rechargeable EN-EL3 Battery (which is bundled with the D100, D50 and D100 SLR models), this happens about a month after an initial batch number list was released. The problem is still the same: risk of overheating and explosion while recharging.
These are the updated batch numbers:
51AA, 51AB, 51AC, 51AD, 51AE, 51AF, 51AG, 51AH, 53AA, 53AB, 54AE, 54AF, 54AH
But I strongly advise to check the alert at Nikon support page for further info.
Meanwhile my battery, which was included in the first batch, is somewhere in Ireland, and hopefully I will receive a new one before New Year’s Eve…
[update 2005.01.05] Finally I received my battery, a bit later than I expected but still on schedule. The estimated delivery time for the new battery, from the time the returning battery was sent, was twenty work days and that’s the time needed to get mine. I guess the holiday season is not the best to send this kind of stuff by mail and I guess I could even get it sooner, if this happened in some other time, but I still got the battery on time. Overall I’m pretty impressed with Nikon’s support, from registering my faulty battery online to receiving the new one I allways could know what was happening.
