What’s in my kit bag?

Photocritic is asking what do we carry around in the kit bag.

For me it’s simple, I like to travel light so I prefer to keep things to the minimum, starting with the bag, I don’t like backpacks because I don’t feel tool comfortable moving around with them in crowed places.

Either with my digital or film camera I have a typical setup for the gear I carry around:

  • Camera body (obviously…)
  • Prime lens – A must have, can’t go anywhere without it! It’s fast, has superior optical quality, I love to use shallow depth of field and, at last, it’s a really small and light lens.
  • "Regular" zoom lens – The versatile classical zoom lens, the wider the better.
  • Filters – Not many, just the UV (always attached to the lens, never forget that) and a polarizer.
  • Basic cleaning stuff – Tissues and a blower, all you need for those quick jobs.
  • Tripod – The smallest one I can find.
  • Media – Some spare memory cards or film, otherwise the rest of the gear is quite useless.

For my digital camera still I haven’t got an extra battery, which caused me some problems a few times in the past (specially while traveling), that’s one of the reasons I’m keeping my film camera: it’s completely manual and battery-less!
