It seems something is not OK with JPG Magazine, a community oriented photography magazine, following the departure of two of their founding editors: Derek Powazek and Heather Champ. Both of them posted a few comments about this on their blogs (here and here), after reading both of them looks like their departure was everything but friendly, somehow reminded me a co-founder’s issue that occurred at deviantArt, a community that’s been haunted by some criticism regarding their policies and lack of freedom of speech.
JPG Mag was a recent discovery of mine and I’ve submitted photos for the last issue’s themes, I’m planning the next my submissions as we speak, so I’m not even planning to abandon it, the same way I still submit some of my work to deviantArt. But I wonder how these growing pains will affect JPG Mag’s future.
