My blog haz a new home!

I finally decided to move my techie blog from the free public host where it lived for some years to my own paid host, where, among others, I already have photo blog. The blog has been upgraded but the concept remains the same, to host my various technology related posts, but with a new twist: posts in Portuguese. I don’t have a “blog post rate” that justifies creating a new blog in Portuguese, so the solution will be having a new section in this one.

Although all the posts have been migrated here the old version still lives as a backup in read-only mode.

It’s just lazyness I guess…

I’m not very happy with the current hosting of this blog: the platform is becoming a bit outdated, looks like no activity going on over there (I don’t like “dead” services) and the it’s becoming a bit too slow for me. I have paid hosting with lots of storage and traffic available, and with a fully customizable Wordpress installation available with just one click.
So sometimes, many times actually, I wonder why don’t I migrate to my own host, or at least to Wordpress.com, and end this once and for all. Probably because I have to buy a new domain, I don’t think I could fit a tech oriented blog like this under temujinphoto.com, and importing all the posts from one blog to the other won’t be an easy task.

My other blog’s new look!

My other blog, the one less geeky than this one, had a facelift.

New theme… again.

Just updated the blog to its fourth incarnation, which means I’ve updated the blog’s theme once again. Probably it’s just me but I like it a lot, it’s clean and minimal, even if I get bored of it in a few months.

[update] there some glitches in the single post view yet to be solved.

my tumblog!

I just created my tumblog!
“And what’s a tumblog?” some might ask. You could check at Wikipedia but if a blog is like a diary a tumblog is more like a scrapbook, a place where someone can post short notes, links, photos and content gathered elsewhere.
“And what’s so special about your tumblog?” some could ask also. It’s mine, it will include things like posts from my blogs, my Twitter activity (although I’m still discovering this one…), my photos and links I’ll share via my del.icio.us or Google Reader.

Minor updates

This blog is continuously evolving, call it Kaizen meets the blogosphere, so I decided it was time to release a few more RSS feeds, as some of my friends find subjects like Scrum or J2EE a bit boring. Now there are separate feeds for each main subject of this blog. Yes, I could create a blog for each of these subjects, but that would result in too much work and too many links to manage.

And now a little bonus: a feed that combines all my main photo galleries in one place, the result of my initial explorations with Yahoo Pipes.

All of these feeds are available in the Feeds section just below (just find the little orange icon).

Pipes?!…

One of the most curious, and strange, web applications that appeared in this thing we call Internet has to be Yahoo! Pipes. In just a few words, but Lifehacker have a more detailed review, this tool lets you gather information from several places around the web (usually using RSS), transforms it and exports the results into one place. The best part is that this happens using a neat graphic interface, no HTML code or technical knowledge is needed, I just used it for a couple of minutes but  I already created something I was needing for some time: a way to combine the updates of my photo galleries in one place, usefull for publising it as a RSS feed.

[update] Frantic Industries has a nice article about Yahoo! Pipes.

:Phoetry:

New Year for many people means new resolutions and new projects, although I’ve abandoned new year resolutions a long time ago I’m starting the year with a brand new project.

It’s a joint blog that will combine images and words (photography and poetry to be a bit more accurate) in a way that isn’t clear for us, yet… I’ll be in charge of all the photography related matters, unless my writing skills dramatically improve in the near future allowing me to contribute with something else.

I’m eager to see how this will evolve in the next months.

Para lá da superficie

Originally uploaded by t3mujin.

“Para lá de superfície” (in English “Beyond the surface”) is photography book, included in a scientific investigation project, combining the works several people, photographers or not, and completely dedicated to the sea.

As for my humble contribution, it’s a handful of photos from my Cinque Terre set, including the one in this post (the cover of the book).

I haven’t got any more details, but I’ll post them as soon as they’re available.
